Bjorn's Backing Bareback

Famed director Kristen Bjorn has made a few industry heavyweights uncomfortable by releasing a bareback scene between two real-life partners, Pedro Andreas and Daniel Marvin, as part of his new big budget movie for Sarava Productions. The movie is called El Rancho.

Bjorn is one of the most highly acclaimed directors in the gay porn biz and for him to be shooting a bareback scene is making a lot of companies uneasy and leaving porn journalists like J.C. Adams wondering in his column if this is the beginning of mainstream companies giving in to the demand for bareback.

To hear Bjorn tell it though, it's nothing to waste time talking about and is just another scene in the movie. "Before things get out of hand, let me explain," he said in a statement. "Yes, in the mail-order version there is a condomless scene between a real-life couple in a long-term relationship of the same HIV status. There is a warning at the beginning of the film advising people of this special situation. Since most people in this type of relationship have condomless sex, I don't feel that it is incorrect to allow it in the video. I trust that viewers are intelligent enough to understand the difference between this and a 'bareback' film. Sarava Productions doesn't promote or condone unsafe sex practices."

Adams, for one, goes on the record saying it's by no means a publicity stunt on Bjorn's part, as he's been known for his reclusive behavior for most of his career. "Trust me," says Adams. "Kristen Bjorn is not someone prone to publicity stunts or money grubbing." He investigated further by calling several studio heads to ask their thoughts, one of the biggest of which told him, "We don't want to go bareback. But if that's where the audience is going, that's where we'll go."

So Adams is posing the same question I'm going to pose here in a poll that will serve as Friday's since we have two in one day here: "Does this mean condoms-only gay porn is headed for the scrap heap alongside VHS tapes?"

Will bigger companies give into the demand for bareback porn?

Jason,

What websites, besides yours, give good, objective reviews of bareback porn?

When I search online, bareback "review" sites all seem to be weakly disguised marketing tools directly owned and operated by the pornmakers themselves, promoting their own material.
