Rolling Stone Investigates Kocis Murder
Hitting newsstands across the world tomorrow, the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine will include a special investigative report titled "Death of a Porn King." The piece takes a look at the murder of Cobra Video owner, Bryan Kocis, as well as his and the porn industry's relationship with Brent Corrigan. A few months back, I spent hours with RS scribe Peter Wilkinson giving him my take on the saga, having chronicled it from the beginning. After confirming that he was indeed with Rolling Stone and that the article had been given the green light, I provided him with full access to everyone from Brent Corrigan to director Chris Steele and fellow gay porn performer Caleb Carter (who has some choice words to say about Corrigan in the piece, ouch!) among others.
I had heard some rumors floating around the Internet that the article was going to be slanted pro-Corrigan.

Filed between the latest brief Q&A with some 60's songbird and a multi-page profile on the latest teen pop sensation, their investigative reports are always the meat of their publication. Simply put: They're fucking hardcore. Their in-depth exclusives like these are the kind of stories that other magazines are afraid to touch -- until Rolling Stone does it and then everyone else takes their lead, second only maybe to the likes of Vanity Fair.
The article isn't pro-anything. Except maybe truth. That's their job. That's the job of a real journalist as opposed to us bloggers or columnists. And Wilkinson has done a better job than any of us so far on remaining neutral and telling it like it is.
I started writing as a cub reporter for magazines ranging from Femme Fatales to Entertainment Weekly when I was 15 years old. Back then, it was a dream of mine to either be a cover story or write a cover story for Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair. So anytime I'm ever able to help the two magazines or be included somehow is an absolute honor. They are the best at what they do and have changed the course of history.
Kudos to them for taking on a story that has scared CNN, just from the sheer amount of research required alone not to mention sifting through the online bullshit to find what's real and what has been totally fabricated and is mere theory.

Talking about the Caleb C. story I was interested to see Shane's World IS going to release the movie. I even saw the cover of the DVD for the gay college invasion with CC right on the cover.
I've always wondered how much interest straight people would have in this case, beyond Christian fundamentalists who want to use it politically as a nasty example of gay people.
My straight friends, especially the women, seemed interested. I think they might watch a movie about it, if it were well done.
Rolling Stone has a circulation of 1.2/1.3 million.
1.2-1.3 million people, only 5% of whom are gay and even care about the story.
Thus, the Rolling Stone article in actuality reached at best 65,000 people who were likely to read and be interested in the staory.
Then there is the excellent Out magazine article.
Obviously Jason, you have not read the Out magazine article on the Kocis murder. Had you done so, you'd be forced to agree it is a far superior and professional piece of real journalism.
But what was I saying? Oh yes, circuiation. Out has a circulation of 150,000. Roughly 100% of whom are gay.
So, not only in terms of quality, but in reach to target audiences, the Out article is superior to the Rolling Stone article by a more than 2-1 margin.
Clearly Brent won the battle of the dueling magazine articles.

Except for the part about Sean being Lee's ex (a clear factual error in the story, Grant was Lee's ex). And any other obvious factual errors that will turn up as the article get closer scrutiny.
The fact that the Rolling Stone article can make such a whopper of an obvious factual error as to who was Lee's ex clearly undermines it's credibility.
I have not managed to get my hands on a copy yet. The snippets that have have read online, however, show it to be very poorly written.

As to the first, according to the police sting recordings, Harlow reassured Brent that "he went quick" when Grant posed that question.
On top of that, Harlow and Joe are being charged with "mutilation of a corpse" which probably refers to the 28 stab wounds; meaning they must have come after the throat slashing.

Damon Kruezer has been interviewed by at least 7 different reporters for print and broadcast media, whether they quote him directly or use his material as deep background in their reports.
And yet the haters say Kruezer isn't a credible source. How is that?

1. The attorney listed on Cobra Video's trademark application on the mark COBRA VIDEO (file number 76446597) is Charles A. Wilkinson. The author of the Rolling Stone Article on the Bryan Kocis Murder is Peter Wilkinson, any relation?
2. While Bryan Kocis reportedly created Cobra Video in 2001, the Cobra Video LLC listed as the applicant for the trademark BRENT CORRIGAN is a Delaware LLC that did not exist until April 18, 2005. The "date of first use" that Bryan Kocis listed on the trademark application for BRENT CORRIGAN is October 6, 2006. And, the trademark IS NOT for the categories of PRINT nor INTERNET use.
Bottom Line There appears to be a FATAL FLAW with Cobra Video's trademark application on BRENT CORRIGAN because the listed applicant Cobra Video LLC did not legally exist until April 18, 2005
Sean Lockhart can probably proved that he used Brent Corrigan in business prior to April 18, 2005.

Mr. Damon Kruezer has posted a very revealing email from Bryan Kocis to him dated May 2006. Reading the email it's clear the two had longstanding communication and that Bryan Kocis was about to trust Kruezer with a big story.
Those who say that Kocis didn't know or like Kruezer, or that Kruezer hasn't been involved in this story for over a year, are mistaken. Time to eat crow boys, you got it wrong.
Possibly explosive information
There is a Pennsylvania Cobra Video LLC (created 9/20/2002) AND a Delaware Cobra Video LLC (created April 18,2005).
There is every indication that The Delaware Cobra Video LLC was created solely so that Bryan Kocis could use that LLC to sue Sean Lockhart.
There is also every indication that the Federal Trademark Application on the mark BRENT CORRIGAN is not only not valid, it was never intended by Bryan Kocis to be valid and the application will probably be allowed to expire.
