Archive of the Day: Jack Ryan to the Rescue

I have the worst memory in the world. I used to have the best ever. And then I lived a lot.

Totally forgot about this moment in time. Going over old "Diary" entries, I found...

Three years ago this week, I went in to have my dog Sadie spade and by some freak coincidence, she began her first menstration during the surgery. Her blood vessels were fully dialated so she lost a lot more blood than they were comfortable with and didn't know if she was going to make it.

Fortunately, they were able to save her, but she will take twice as long to heal and is in twice as much pain. Jack Ryan has a black lab too and happened to call just as all of this was going down. I told him the worst thing was that I had to pick her up, run her back to my place and then go be funny hosting Cocktails with the Stars at Micky’s. What a test! I was pulling it off pretty well, too. Until Jack showed up with a care package full of toys and treats for Sadie. It was everything I could do to keep from crying. I threw my arms around him and I think in that moment I may have fallen just a little bit in love with Jack Ryan. He was on his way to dinner and didn’t stay, but he made my night. And Sadie’s.
