Andy Kay Does His Best Chi Chi
Kay is obviously doing his best LaRue in a new message where he says using condoms in porn is not enough and that various STD's can still be spread. He insists companies should be paying for their models to be tested so they will be forced to put STD positive models with positive and STD negative models with negative, even when a condom is in use.
Hmm... Interesting.

Thanks Jason I have my own thoughts on this as you saw in my press release safety before pleasure as corny as it sounds lets all come together and help spread awareness to this hurd of irresponsible assholes who risk people's lives for the sake of a buck kudos!
Jason,
dialogue is dialogue. Whether you might agree with it or not.
Why do I sense a bit of disparagement toward Andy for speaking out?
Just because Chi Chi was the first doesn't mean she should be the last. Far from it.
When's the last time YOU spoke out on something so important to everyone in and out of the industry?
These are the type actions we should be applauding from the youth of our community.
Proving a link to Andy kay's website as you did to Chi Chi's would also have been nice.
William - I didn't realize Andy had a web site until you brought this up. I'll go ahead and link it now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and try not to read too much into things. If I didn't support him, I'd have said so or not posted the link to help support and promote him at all. Have I ever been one to mince words?
Furthermore, I speak out on topics I feel are important to the industry nearly every week and about 10 years ago created one of the first places online to show gay porn stars as people instead of objects every day, interviewing them in a variety of media formats about who they are behind the scenes, what they believe in, why they do what they do for a living -- and in turn, giving them a voice to their public. This has since then become a separate industry in and of itself.
That is my cause. It is what has been and continues to be important to me.
Fair enough JC, thanks for your response. :-)
I'm curious, and I can't think of a better person to ask this of; seeing that you have for over ten years been a vocal advocate for pornstars across the spectrum of various sexual orientations.
Do you feel that gay men who perform in gay porn should be afforded the same respect, protections and considerations that their counterparts receive in str8 porn by their production companies?
Do gay performers lives have any less inherit value than their str8 counterparts have in your view?
As a consumer, would you support an airline that elected not to test their jet engines as others might do on a regular basis, so as to prevent possible crashes that could result in the death of their customers and employees?
I ask these questions because they are indeed important and do reflect upon the studios core values and how they view their performers. The studios being those who choose not to do everything with reason to protect the lives of their performers who are the lifeblood of their business.
William - I wish it were that cut and dry, but some would say gay porn performers are afforded more protection than straight porn performers.
Straight performers, especially men if they want to work regularly, perform in predominantly condomless productions. Much of the straight porn industry uses testing in lieu of condoms. (What about the window of time between the test and the shoot?) Much of the gay porn industry uses condoms in lieu of testing. (What about condoms that break or STD's that can be transmitted orally?) This is a debate that has gone on for several years now: Which policy is safer? Neither. We are working in porn and sex can get messy!
Ultimately, it's up to the performer to decide what they are comfortable with. If a performer is made most comfortable by they and their scene partners being tested AND using condoms, they should insist upon it. If the companies do not comply, find work elsewhere or get into a profession that is less of a health hazzard. (We are not the only profession that is a health hazzard, by the way.) No one is forcing the models into doing what they are doing and ultimately, they need to start taking responsibility for their own actions. xo L, J.
I really can't disagree with most of what you have said JC, but I'll take it a step further.
I think that the consumers of porn should bear some responsibility here as well. After all, it is ultimately us consumers that are benefiting from the risk that the models are taking (well, along with the studios).
I would suggest that the studios should impose a 50 cent to one dollar tax or surcharge (call it anything you want) on each video sold or rented and that they should also match that amount and utilize that revenue for testing, for both hiv and std on regular intervals for anyone performing in porn.
Consumers, I believe, wouldn't blink an eye at such a tax as it would be a way of them too ensuring that they were doing their part to ensure every possible precaution had been taken to keep people healthy.
When it comes to hiv and std's it's all our responsibility to be involved.
