Fellini Attempts To Sue Michael Lucas
I conversed with Lucas this afternoon who confirms, "I was in fact contacted by the company that holds the rights to Fellini's work, but without going into details, I'll just say that my lawyers refuted any claim that I violated the copyright of Fellini's film and the inquiry is now closed."
Lucas continues, "On another note, I would like to use this opportunity to explain myself again to the reviewers. I never had the intention of making an adaptation. Who the hell am I to make adaptations of great, classic cinema works? I produce pornographic movies, but yes, sometimes I want to bring some of the elements of mainstream movies that have inspired me. Other than some minor stylistic details from Fellini's film that inspired me, there is nothing at all in my film that can be characterized as an attempt to 'remake' such an amazing film as Fellini's La Dolce Vita. It's a different story line, different characters, different location and a different time period. Also, the name of my movie is Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita. Unfortunately, reviewers sometimes neglect to write the full name."

you can't take a copyrighted script and redo it exactly. titles aren't copyrighted or trademarked, but scripts and storylines are. michael lucas is in more trouble than he's letting out.
yeah -- now he's denying it but it's his big mouth that might get him into trouble. He's been telling anyone who'll listen (and even quoted in New York Magazine) that his better than the original. How does he refute that?
