Donovan Out At Falcon
As of yesterday afternoon, Chad Donovan will no longer be an exclusive director for Falcon Studios. Sources emailed me to say that head honchos at Falcon felt "it just wasn't a good match." The studio's publicist, Troy Prickett, says the parting was "mutual and amicable."
Donovan's been directing quality movies for quite some time now and will have no problem finding a new home quickly, preferably one closer to his long-time boyfriend, Antonio Madiera, in Los Angeles.
How about Men of Odyssey? Bob East, give Chadrick a ring. Hell, while you're at it, give me a ring! I'll direct for you too.

Seriously. Jason, what is going on over at Falcon? First, Rod Barry exits, then Chris Steele leaves and now Chad Donovan? There is something really amiss with the top brass ever since John Rutherford left.
Falcon is in trouble, the turmoil there is very telling they just cannot hold on to good talent.Very Sad to see such a great name slip so badly.
I agree with you guys too. I was thinking that when I read the entry. They keep bragging about their porn models going mainstream, the news shows the directors leaving, and the website is way behind in updates. One of the guys told me there are no movies being filmed for quite some time either. Falcon is definitely dying.
Wow - that was short. And it's disappointing. Granted, Falcon hasn't really been the 'hot' studio for a number of years, but it was a classic studio that put on some really good, solid product.
I have to admit though, that I was one of those who was not impressed with Chris Steele's run there. I felt like the studio was already putting out movies of greatly varying quality, but once Chris got his hand in there, things quickly went downhill and stayed there. His movies were 'messy' - cute guys with no chemistry, too many twinks (which are great, but you could tell where Chris' interests were); for example, Spokes III was an absolute waste of shelf space. And how could you possibly have Jason Adonis bottom and barely capture a shot showing penetration and his face at the same time? Seriously.
I was highly encouraged with Donovan's first film there and thought - while not perfect - he had already greatly increased the quality from what it had sunk to.
So, he's out? Odd. Falcon really is on shaky ground right now and needs to right itself.

Yes, I was VERY shocked actually to see Jordan Michael cast in a Falcon movie considering how overused he has been for Helix and his large catalog of barebacking films. Also, Carter Longway, who has a HUGE videography of barebacking movies. I think these two models was a major sign that Falcon is in trouble.
Sounds like everyone thinks the same thing. The porn forum has a discussion on this too. Their PR person is spending too much time trying to make the porn boys into models and dancers. The moron should remember his job is to build up his studio. Or maybe he knows the studio is dead.
Wasn't Donovan their last director? I know they still have actor slash trying to be director slash steroid user Matthew Rush but I think thats it. Maybe the receptionist or someone can fill in.
I used to have a membership with their online stuff but cancelled it a few months back. The website is never updated on time and its all about Roman Lyndsey Lohan. The guy who used to be attractive but is now wasting away. The forums say he is a drug addict and it was obvious during the awards show.
As for the hiring of all the bareback guys, I have noticed a lot of the guys they are using now are the ones from the online studios. Their new movie Longboard has that puffy Brodie kid. He is on every website known to the gay world as someone to give head to. How many people do they think want to pay for the same routine over and over?
I am so shocked that Falcon is going out of business but I suppose thats what happens when you lose sight of what your company is about. I wondered why they are never at the AVN convention or anything else big. I guess its all about the money.
It is sad that the days of John Rutherford and his stable consisting of Tom Chase, Hal Rockland, Ken Ryker, Mike Branson, Jeff Palmer (when he was hot), Tristian Paris, Roland Dane, Kevin Williams and the list goes on and on. John seems to be doing that now with Colt and Buckshot, so I've been buying thier movies and enjoying their membership site with streaming and hot men. Sorry to see Falcon go the way of my other favorite Catalina, but like a moth to a flame, talent does follow talent.
Why was Chad Donovan fired after only a few months? Anyone know?
rumor on the other gay boards is that his check bounced. Plus they are saying that the PR guy who is quoted in this entry is a mess. That he is running off the talent and leaving the director with messes to clean up to make things go smooth.
I remember a time when I used to highly anticipate Falcon releases but now their product is merely an afterthought. Now I always look forward to releases from Colt/Buckshot, Titan, and Lucas Entertainment. Falcon really needs to get back to actually scouting for talent that is virtually new to the industry but perhaps always being the best went to their head, and so they thought they would always be on top? When Chuck Holmes died John Rutherford was the only one carrying on his vision, and when Rutherford left, there was no one to do so. The product has suffered tremendously. I think Chris Steele tried to steer the ship too much toward twinks and Donovan tried to bring things back to more hunks, but I know alot of people objected to Ashton Star being signed. But it is not his fault. They also possibly penned their hopes too much on Roman Heart, whose looks are really fading and one should NEVER pin their hopes on one model to save an empire.

Talent Walks customers follow! Catalina is a good analogy they were the only real competition for Falcon in the 80's early 90's Now who knows they even put out new product(and why would you bother)Vey sad Chad Donavon is one talented Director and Falcon Porn veteran. If his check bounced he should take them to court. And I think if Falcon is not paying their bills they are truly finished! At my store they say Falcon is "dumping" product at super discount (Falcon DVD's are on 40% off and they are Sitting!)
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but Falcon recently did a clearance sell on a great many of their DVDs (through all lines - Mustang, Jock, etc.). According to the website during the sale (but not elaborated on), it was the last time to get some of those titles - many of older Mustang and Jock titles aren't listed any longer. Now, I've noticed that a lot of the older Falcon movies are being re-issued.

It would appear that Falcon Studios has seen better days. I have not seen a good Falcon movie in quite a while. They have all been big muscle movies. The last movie that was halfway decent was big dick club. There was a time when they ruled the roost but now the are just releasing uninspired movies. Dripping wet was just slow and boring. Velvet Mafia was a good story driven movie but most of the sex scenes we not that hot. The only real interesting one was the one with Brent/Fox Ryder and Erik Rhodes. The guys were hot but the sex was uninspired. Maybe I’m just jaded but to tell you the truth most of the porn I have seen lately is just boring. The sex pair ups are just uninspired and most of the models have no chemistry. I guess they should let the models choose who they find hot and film that.
I don't think Falcon has made a great movie since John Rutherford left and since big dicked straight Texan stud Travis Wade left. If you haven't seen "Hooked" then you need to rent it because Travis Wade was fierce topping Anhtony Shaw. Perhaps it is time for a major overhaul. I heard the company was being run by two straight men and a straight woman. I have also heard from several models that Falcon is nearing shutting down and is on its last leg.
In all those old John Rutherford movies the guys have Cha Chi hair do's, blah.
