In Case You're Wondering...

...why sometimes our reviews are of movies that came out a few months ago, it's usually because they just became available via video on-demand in our JC Theatre 1 or JC Theatre 2. In case you didn't know, DVD sales have plummeted in the past couple of years since VOD became huge and for us online bloggers, it's much more profitable for us to link our reviews to them than DVD sale sites.

However, the VOD companies themselves are taking a big chunk of the movie's profits, naturally. So some studios are reluctant to turn their movies over to VOD so quickly and prefer to wait up to six months! What sucks about this is that it gives online reviewers less incentive to review them because we also get a larger chunk of the payment from VOD than we do online retailers like our Curious Corner Store.

This is also why you see a lot of reviews here from Falcon Studios, Raging Stallion, Hot Desert Knights, Adam & Eve, Wicked Pictures and Evil Angel -- because they do NOT wait to give their movies to VOD and are usually somewhat simultaneous with the DVD's street date. Reviewing them so much is our thank you to them for that. ;-)

I hope the studios and the VOD companies can come to some sort of agreement soon that is a little more beneficial to everyone involved.
