Most Obvious April Fool's Day Joke Ever
Brent Corrigan announced tonight in his blog that he is calling it quits and ending his career in gay porn. Who wants to put money on this being an April Fool's Day prank?
He's no Alanis Morissette.

I for one hope it's not a joke. It has been clear for a long time that Corrigan is not good for the porn industry and furthermore the porn industry is not good for him.

I don't see how taking down a company like Cobra Video catering to perverts (ie, ephebophiles into bareback sex) qualifies as being "not good for the porn industry" as a whole.
Maybe bad for fans of unsafe sex with boys who look to be underage; but for the rest of us non-perverts, he's a hero! And whether this be an April Fools joke or not, always will be!

I have it on good authority now that it was indeed an April Fool's joke. I'm sure there will be a confirmation in the coming days.
11:33 - I don't know that he's the one who "went after" them or "took them down" when you think about it, but his intentions were certainly there, yes and that's never a bad thing. He seems to want only good things for this industry on the whole, good things for the performers and that's never a bad thing to have around.

8:43 & 1:08 - I gotta sgree with 1:08. I didn't see a problem with Michael Lucas faking his death as a publicity stunt so I don't see much of a problem with this either. It's just a cute joke. Not a big deal. If anything what is disconcerting to me are the commenters on other blogs who are now so genuniely concerned for his health to the point that they insist one of them go over to his residence and check on him to make sure he is okay. His underage beginnings have just encited so much fanatiscm in sickos it's disturbing.
anon 11:33 Corrigan didn't take down Cobra. Cobra videos are far more widely available then the recent Corrigan films.
I have no love for Cobra but people need to remember Cobra would not exist if no one is buying their films. I would be just as happy if Cobra closed up shop. We can get up on our soap boxes and preach and screach about the evils of bb porn producers but in the end the only way it will stop is if WE as customers refuse to buy DVDs produced by BB studios.
Corrigan came clean about his alleged age only AFTER he set up a new business so knock of the nobility and good intentions nonsense.
Shame on Cobra for having an ungeraged performer but does anyone with half of brain really think his revelation was about doing the right thing. Nope it was to remove the compeitation. Just look at the timing and stop thinking about that lovely dick and you will be able to come up with the only logical solution.
Jason, I am the fanatic sicko you mentioned. I think you have this wrong. What is it about Sean Lockhart's history that makes you think he is cynical enough to attempt a cruel prank? You say that you have it on good authority that this is an April Fool's joke, but of course your story is inadequately sourced. It is now April 2, and there is no reveal.

If someone sounds depressed, really depressed and it is ignored- that would make the people ignoring that person say, insensitive assholes? [that would be you Jason] - Brent Corrigan sounded depressed, and btw, I have never seen a BC film and am not a BC fanatic [of any kind]

Let's take this from both sides.
Because hey, maybe I'm wrong! I mean, I have it on good authority from someone very close to him that it was a prank. But sometimes sources fail you. It's happened plenty of times before to all of us.
So, there's two possibilities here...
...the sad thing about them being that he can't really catch a break on either of them.
OPTION 1: IF IT WAS A JOKE...
He makes what he thinks is going to be a clever joke and the next day everyone's ready to crucify him because they were worried and got their feelings hurt or feel abandoned.
If I were him, I would not know how to respond! I would be touched and moved, scared and disgusted, and feel like I was damned if I do and damned if I don't.
His own fans make it nearly impossible for him to say, "HAHA! Just kidding!"

Now he's no doubt thinking of spin. Some excuse. Some other explanation.

OPTION 2: IF IT WASN'T A JOKE...
I agree it sounds like Brent was depressed. So why am I not concerned?
Because he was not wallowing in the depression or his own self-pity.
In the post, he decides to actually do something about his depression. He sees what will make him happier, he sees a light at the end of the tunnel and realizes that he has to get out of the bubble, away from the madness in order to save himself.
But some of his fans won't let him choose that as an otpion apparantly.
They want an answer.
They want to check on him.
They want to contact him.
...when he's specifically stated that's not what's going to help him right now.
Sometimes we need to seriously evaluate our intentions.
When someone tells you they see very clearly that what will help them now is stepping away, getting some quiet and turning off their comments, you can't very well say you're only out to help them if you're doing the exact opposite of what they've said will help them. ie.: The suggestion to have a fan go to his residence and check on him!
It's like the married couple who are arguing and the wife says, "I don't want to fight with you. I need to step away and gather my thoughts and sleep on this."
And the husband screams that he doesn't want her to go to bed upset and can't stand to see their relationship in shambles for one second and insists on dealing with the situation right now.
A selfless husband would bite his tongue, bite the bullet and give her the night she's asked for.
A selfish husband insists on going through it now. He may think it's what's best for her -- but he doesn't know what's best for her. She does. It's merely a way of controlling her and the situation.
People go through rough times in their lives. They pick themselves up, dust themselves off, take control and get back on the road. And that's exactly what he sounds like he's doing in his post to me, faux or not. Sounds like a very healthy attitude.
Furthermore, I was not referring to any specific "sicko." They've been crawling around the BC story for a long time now, not just this week. I was generalizing. The particular instance I brought up is just one in many. If I felt it were just one person, I wouldn't have taken the time to even mention it.

I have to agree with DeWayne, you really did a great job. I am beginning to believe that the reason Brent has not posted anything yet is that he read your comments and is having to really think how to gain back the support of those that he hurt. I have to admit I did not like what he did at all.
Is he really that desperate for attention? And is he really so cynical as to bring up his parents and their problems as part of his merry prank? Then he needs another kind of intervention.
wow its funny.. if you look back say 8 or so years ago when people had personal sites with live webcams and not charged money. A few webcammers got together to play a big joke on april 1st. The ideas was to black out the sites as a joke an sit back and watch what would happen and see the comments.
I have seen a few porn actors say they calling it quits, maybe its a bit stunt by a large group to push a point? who knows.. true or not, I wish him nothing but luck in whatever he decides to do.
