Kent North Commits Suicide
Hot House lifetime exclusive Kent North, 34 years old, found his own version of "independence" on July 4th when he allegedly decided to take his own life. Nothing has been confirmed, but his official site KentNorth.com has a memorandum posted as of this morning.
Hot House is currently preparing a statement.
So sad. No words. Don't understand.
I never met Kent, but he was my favorite performer at Hot House.
UPDATE: Hot House says it was a drug overdose. Notably, they do not use the word "accidental."

Just saw this on the Adams Report too, and i was like... "the hell?"
He seemed perfectly fine when I spoke to him at IML. He even said we could work together on European distribution.
I guess you just never know what's going on inside a person's head.

Yeh, the whole thing sort of plunged me into the depths of depression today (I went back to bed for a while actually after reading it) and I didn't even know the guy. I just can't imagine what would ever make someone get to that point... I want to drag whatever entities made him feel that way out into the street, ya know? Life is hard. Not all of us can cope as well as others.

To address the above mentioned comment: there is no place for men in the biz to go specifically. Unless they have other resources, there is no insurance plan with mental health/substance abuse benefits for 1099 employees. Hopefully, someone will begin to advocate for these men and women rather than just drool over them and offer frothy sentiment.

I met Kent few times and he was one of the nicest guys ever met, so down to earth.. he will be greatly missed.
So many young guys rush out the California or New York to get into porn because they want sex with really hunky guys. Many can't get laid in their local towns, believe it or not.
They do this without a plan. Guys should give it two years tops and then say goodbye to porn and get on with their lives. The films are always there to look back on.
Drugs seem to play a big role in a lot of porn deaths, the others are AIDS and suicide. Suicide comes when I think they don't find what they were looking for in the first place: a gorgeous lover to spend the rest of their lives with.
Like in other forms of showbiz, actors and singers feel they have a right to feel "extra good." Drugs can provide that and it can get out of hand: addiction.
34 is too young to accidentally kill yourself with drugs. Kent's foundation wasn't substantial enough. I hope others will take his passing as a warning.
Guys who get into porn ought to do it with a plan. If they just want to do it for the sex and money, they should give it one to two years.
Most of them do it, then get out. They've got 20 to 50 movies they can refer back to for the rest of their lives to see how gorgeous they once were.
Others get bogged down in the lifestyle of "no 9 to 5 job for me" mentality and get strung out on drugs. But porn doesn't last, unless you are a Michael Lucas, Ty Lattimore, Owen Hawk, Tiger Tyson or Chip Daniels, one of the smart ones who go into their own business.
Kent North didn't have direction. I'm only guessing, but some of these guys start thinking that their "fame" is like Brad Pitt's fame. It's not. Tell me, who can make a great life on a porn star's salary? What benefits do they have? What does the future hold in a business that's constantly looking for new faces and bodies?
The bareback companies should have MANDATORY TESTING. There are kits that are faster than clinics (at least it's something!)
Nobody should die at 34 like Kent North did. Drugs are an escape mechanism, as is alcohol when not monitored. Personally, I feel that drugs are more dangerous than alcohol. My opinion.
Look, we all like porn and I like seeing it without condoms, but I don't insist upon it. I want the porn guys to be safe. Get tested, especially if you bareback.
