Raw Films' "Raw Courage"
Raw Films makes a real departure with Raw Courage and there's a few reasons why.
First of all, in terms of production value alone, Raw Courage is so far above and beyond anything the company has produced in the past. And that's saying a lot because every frame of a movie from Raw Films is usually picture perfect. But they've gone the extra mile here, building a barracks and boot camp training ground while the director gets artsy and captures the lengths a bead of sweat will travel from a man's brow to his navel.
Hot. But different! We're not used to Raw Films -- or any bareback movie for that matter -- being more artistic than anything put out by the big American condom companies this year. Give us some time to get used to it maybe.
Even more shocking though are the cast choices. Only half of the cast at best are the drop dead flawless European twinks that we're used to seeing. Here there are muscle hunks and a variety of boys ranging from African to Asian. So the company is branching out in terms of its casting policies as well, it seems.
All these changes though shouldn't be for nothing. They should mean hotter sex and unfortunately it just doesn't. While some scenes in Raw Courage are on par with the studios previous efforts -- most notably the grand finale from bottom boy Alex Stevens getting fucked by two of his barracks buddies -- other scenes just fall flat of the eroticism so prominently on display in past titles.
It's a tough thing, combining the art with the filth. Most companies don't get it right on their first try. I suspect Raw Films will get back to basics with their next release but will maintain the level of artistry.
